Onboarding: your first 15 minutes
What happens in the four-step setup flow, and what to have ready before you start.
What it is
The first time you open Yoyo Returns, it walks you through a four-step setup: Scan, Review, Branding and Launch. A progress rail on the side shows where you are, and you can move back to an earlier step at any point.
You do not need to prepare anything in advance. The app reads your store and drafts sensible settings for you to check.
Why it matters
Most returns apps hand you an empty settings page and wish you luck. Yoyo starts from your actual store instead. It reads your published policies and your catalogue, then proposes a return policy you can edit, rather than a blank form you have to fill in.
What you get
- A working returns setup in about 15 minutes.
- A drafted return policy based on what your store already says.
- A portal that matches your brand before a single shopper sees it.
The four steps
Scan: Yoyo reads your store
The app looks at your store's published policy pages and products. It uses these to draft your return window, eligible products and refund options. Nothing is changed in your store during the scan.
Review: check policy, resolutions and shipping
This is where you confirm the drafted policy. Set your return window, choose which resolutions to offer (refund, exchange, store credit), and pick how return shipping should work. Everything here can be changed later under Return Rules and Settings.
Branding: make the portal yours
Upload your logo, set your colours and choose a hero image. The preview updates as you go, so you see exactly what shoppers will see. There is more detail in the portal branding options later, but this step covers the essentials.
Launch: go live
The final step turns the portal on. Shopify may ask you to approve one or two extra permissions here (for example, reading your locations or theme). These power optional features and you will see exactly what is requested before approving.
Notes
- You can leave onboarding and come back. Your progress is kept.
- Finishing onboarding does not put the portal in front of customers by itself. You still choose where to link it, which is covered in adding the portal to your store.
- Every choice made during onboarding can be changed later. Nothing is locked in.
