Adding the returns portal to your store

Where the portal lives, and the three ways to put it in front of your shoppers.

Updated 16 July 2026

What it is

The returns portal is a page where shoppers look up their order and start a return, exchange or store credit request on their own. No login, no account needed. They enter an order number and email, and the portal does the rest.

Your portal exists in two places at once:

  • On your storefront, at yourstore.com/apps/returns. Same domain your customers already trust.
  • On a hosted link, in the form app.yoyoreturns.com/portal?shop=your-store.myshopify.com. Works anywhere you can paste a link.

Why it matters

A returns portal only reduces support tickets if shoppers can actually find it. Most stores bury their returns process in a policy page, which is exactly why customers email instead.

What you get

  • Shoppers self-serve instead of emailing you.
  • One consistent flow for refunds, exchanges and store credit.
  • A link you can put anywhere: footer, order emails, FAQ pages.

How to set it up

Open the Portal section

In Yoyo, go to Portal in the sidebar. The Open portal button at the top opens your live portal in a new tab, so you can check it at any time.

Add a link to your storefront footer

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Navigation, open your footer menu and add a link named "Returns and exchanges" pointing to /apps/returns. This is where most shoppers look first.

Add the link to your order confirmation email

In Shopify, go to Settings → Notifications and edit the order confirmation template. A "Need to return something?" link near the bottom catches shoppers at the moment they are most likely to need it.

Check it end to end

Visit your storefront, click the new footer link and confirm the portal loads with your branding. If anything looks off, the look and feel is controlled under Portal → Customise.

Notes

  • The storefront route (/apps/returns) works through Shopify's app proxy, so it inherits your domain and SSL automatically. There is nothing to configure.
  • The hosted link is useful in places where you cannot use a relative link, such as WhatsApp messages or a QR code on your packing slips.
  • The portal speaks English, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish and Arabic (with full right-to-left layout). It follows the shopper's language automatically.
